Work on gas appliances, such as boilers, gas hobs and gas fires, must by law be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer in Great Britain (Northern Ireland has its own rules). You can check an engineer on the Gas Safe Register (gassaferegister.co.uk) and ask to see their ID card. Taps, toilets, sinks and ordinary pipework are not gas work.
